The Joint Notice extends certain time frames affecting a participant’s right to healthcare coverage, portability, and continuation of group health plan coverage under COBRA after employment ends. The Joint Notice also extends the time for plan participants to file or perfect benefit claims or appeals of denied claims.
Employer groups should be aware of the upcoming changes to Association Health Plans.
Specifically, those employer groups who are enrolled in a non-trade specific plan may not see a continuance of their current plan offering. Employee enrollment count, age demographics and plan type will determine if this will be a negative or positive change.
